Smile Design

Smile design refers to a comprehensive dentistry approach to improve a person’s smile aesthetically. Smile design aims to create an aesthetic smile by combining factors such as the shape, size, alignment, coloration of the teeth and gums. This process is planned specifically for the patient, taking into account the patient’s wishes, facial features, the condition of the teeth and other factors.
Smile Design Process Steps
The smile design process usually includes the following steps:
Evaluation: The dentist evaluates the patient’s current dental structure, smile line, gum condition and other aesthetic factors. A consultation and interview are held to understand the patient’s wishes and expectations.
Smile Analysis: Factors such as facial features, lip line, gum line, shape, size and coloration of the teeth are analyzed. This includes the proportion, symmetry and harmony of the teeth. This analysis provides a basic guide for the desired aesthetic smile.
Treatment Planning: The dentist creates a treatment plan by taking into account the patient’s wishes and the results of the analysis. This plan may include various cosmetic dentistry procedures such as tooth reshaping, teeth whitening, porcelain laminates, dental fillings, and dental implants.
Interim Application: Temporary restorations (e.g., temporary porcelain laminates) can be applied according to the treatment plan. These temporary restorations help the patient see and approve the results.
Definitive Application: Once the treatment plan is completed and the patient approves, definitive restorations (e.g., porcelain laminates, crowns) are made. In this step, the shape, size, alignment, and color of the teeth are aesthetically corrected.
Smile design helps a person achieve a natural, aesthetic smile that is compatible with their facial features.
