This usually occurs as a result of the normal healing process of the extracted tooth being separated or disrupted. The most common symptom of alveolitis is severe pain. The pain usually starts after a few days and is usually concentrated in the area where the tooth was extracted.<\/p>\n<p><b>Other symptoms of alveolitis may include:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Bad odor<\/b>: Bacteria can multiply in the infected tooth socket and a bad odor may occur.<\/p>\n<p><b>Cavity<\/b>: A cavity may form in the tooth socket that should normally be filled with the healing process.<\/p>\n<p><b>Inflammation<\/b>: Redness, swelling or inflammation may be seen around the tooth socket.<\/p>\n<p><b>What are the Risk Factors for Alveolitis?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>There are usually several risk factors for alveolitis:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Smoking<\/p>\n<p>Insufficient oral hygiene<\/p>\n<p>Pre-existing periodontal disease<\/p>\n<p>Steroid use<\/p>\n<p>External factors that come into contact with the wound area, such as food or drink consumption after tooth extraction<\/p>\n<p>If alveolitis is suspected, it is important to see a dentist. Your dentist will clean the tooth socket and prescribe an antibiotic if necessary. He or she may also recommend painkillers or a special mouthwash to relieve pain.<\/p>\n<p>To prevent alveolitis, it is important to follow the following precautions after tooth extraction:<\/p>\n<p>Continue to maintain oral care as instructed by your dentist.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid touching the implant area or straining with hard foods.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid smoking.<\/p>\n<p>Use cotton
