After tooth preparations are completed, precise measurements are taken from the teeth. These measurements are then used to create a composite model. Temporary fillings are placed to protect the teeth until the next appointment. The finished porcelain inlays/onlays are first tested on a plaster model and prepared for the final appointment. They are bonded to the teeth using an adhesive cement, enhancing the strength of the remaining tooth structure. Following the bonding process, polishing and finishing are performed to complete the procedure. How Aesthetic Fillings Are Done:
Aesthetic fillings are placed layer by layer into prepared cavities and each layer is cured with a special light. Once this process is complete, aesthetic fillings are shaped and adjusted to fit the tooth. All of these steps take longer than an amalgam filling procedure but are generally more expensive than amalgam fillings.
